Initially conceived as a soundtrack for a radical San Francisco strip show titled “Ultra Soundtrack,” the project was rejected for being too avant-garde. During the recording process, guitarist Helios Creed joined the band, and brought an entirely new dimension to their sound. The resulting album marked a significant shift in the band’s musical direction, incorporating experimental techniques and a fusion of punk, psychedelia, and early industrial sounds and truthfully, it’s out there! I sort of love it.
1983 Italian reissue on a label called Expanded Music. I picked this up way back in the 1980s, with only a passing familiarity of what Chrome was even about, but this remains my favorite release.
