Montreal thrashers Dead Brain Cells (DBC) had only been together for about nine months when they were picked up by Combat Records and quickly recorded their debut. The album is raw, aggressive, and mixes elements of thrash metal with crossover punk elements and socio-political lyrical themes. It’s a noisy affair, but the quality cannot be denied. Their second album Universe (1989) is a testament to their progressive and innovative tendencies and both LPs are 100% worth your time.
Original 1987 US pressing on Combat Records. Picked this up at a local record show ages ago and it’s just about perfect.
