Gone Away marked a stylistic shift for the Milwaukee-based band, showcasing a departure from their hardcore punk roots into a more experimental, atmospheric sound. This seven-track record incorporated elements of alternative rock and post-punk, highlighting a moody, melodic approach that was both darker and more intricate than their previous work. For a release featuring just two new studio cuts along with five live cuts of earlier material, it packs a lot more punch than one might expect.
1989 US pressing from Touch & Go. The CD version from 1990 is expanded to include the band’s Cows And Beer and Pink Flag 7-inches. Great stuff.
