Live After Death marks Iron Maiden’s peak popularity and a creative high point following their exceptional Powerslave album. The subsequent world tour to sold-out stadiums led to this triumphant live album, which showcases the band’s rich back catalog and features the classic lineup: Bruce Dickinson on vocals, the dual lead guitars of Dave Murray and Adrian Smith, drummer Nicko McBrain, and bassist Steve Harris, all at the top of their game. Legendary producer and engineer Martin Birch’s work, combined with Derek Riggs’ immersive cover art, makes this one of the greatest live metal albums ever recorded.
1985 U.S. pressing on Capitol Records. I can’t remember if this is the same copy I bought brand new back then or if it was among the records I lost when my friend ran away from home and his mom threw away all his heavy metal and punk albums, including a few of mine. At least now I have two solid originals so all is good.
