Jan Garbarak | Keith Jarrett | Palle Danielsson | Jon Christiansen - Belonging (1974)

Released in 1974, Belonging is considered one of Garbarek’s most accessible and celebrated works, blending Scandinavian folk influences with jazz improvisation and lyricism. The album features Garbarek’s distinctive, airy tenor and soprano saxophone playing and includes contributions from a stellar quartet of Jarrret (piano), Danielsson (bass), and Christiansen (drums). Still getting my head around this, but digging the sound a lot. Rock and psych informed, but entirely based in the core of modern jazz of the early 1970s.

1974 German pressing on ECM. I literally picked this up only yesterday and am so happy that I did.
