A Gilded Eternity pushes further into the band’s signature fusion of heavy, looping rhythms, droning guitars, and layered feedback, creating an immersive, trance-like atmosphere. Tracks like “Be Here Now” and “Afterglow” demonstrate Loop’s evolution toward a more structured, yet still relentlessly powerful sound, balancing raw energy with a cerebral edge. Easily one my favorite albums of 1990, across any genre. The band would split after this album as Hampson and Dawson move to focus on Main.
2014 UK reissue from Reactor is a lovely presentation , including two LPs that play at 45rpm and a 7-inch with two more tracks. This is basically a replica of the original deluxe edition and it’s a beautiful thing.
