Whew! So the Mentors seem even more offensive today than they did in the 1980s. With tracks like “Sandwich of Love” and “Golden Showers,” the Mentors intentionally push the whole shock rock to extremes that hadn’t been widely seen before. Musically, You Axed For It! is a gritty blend of metal and punk, with a raw, unpolished production that enhances the rebellious nature of the band. El Duce’s raspy vocal delivery and Sickie Wifebeater’s gritty guitar riffs form the backbone of the album. If you the Mentors already, than you know what this is all about. If not, proceed with caution. Not recommended for most.
1985 US first pressing on Death Records/Enigma. Came across this about a week ago for $3 and couldn’t pass it by.
