Portland, Oregon’s Silver Talon delivers a modern take on traditional heavy metal, drawing inspiration from legendary bands like Judas Priest, Queensrÿche, and Sanctuary. Though it’s surprising to see young bands embracing this style today, there’s no denying that Silver Talon does it exceptionally well. Decadence and Decay showcases intricate guitar work, commanding vocals, and dynamic compositions. Themes of inner turmoil, power struggles, and existential dread weave through the tracks, perfectly reflecting the album’s title with a mix of aggression and haunting melody. Albums like this prove that there’s still incredible music to be discovered, both new and old. Plus, the cover art by renowned fantasy artist Brom is outstanding!
