The Habibiyya - If Man But Knew (1972)

If Man But Knew is a unique album blending elements of Sufi devotional music, folk, and psychedelia. Released in 1972, it was a product of the British band’s transformative journey through Sufism, which profoundly influenced their sound. The album combines traditional Middle Eastern instruments like the ney, tabla, and oud with Western folk sensibilities, creating an otherworldly, meditative experience. A little weird in the sense that this is religious and cultural tourism, but absolutely worth a listen if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary.

1972 UK pressing on Island Records. Just picked this up at a record show, but have had a digital copy of this for ages.
