Tony Iommi with Glenn Hughes - The 1996 DEP Sessions (2004)

The 1996 DEP Sessions is a collaborative studio album by guitarist Tony Iommi and vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes, officially released in 2004. The album’s material was originally recorded in 1996 at DEP International Studios in Birmingham, England and was intended as a preproduction demo for a project that stalled in the wake of Black Sabbath’s original lineup reunion at about the same time. In response to the widely circulated “Eighth Star” bootleg version of these recordings, Iommi opted to official release the sessions. The recordings are  great and the bare bones production values (due to it being a demo) makes for a solidly authentic listening experience. Both gents are in top form here.

2024 US pressing from the Rhino Entertainment Company. While a reissue, this is the first ever vinyl pressing and it sounds really good.
