I’m sure this album need no introduction, so I am not going to going into much of a critique about it. I grew up in the same Seattle suburbs and was in bands during the rise of Alice In Chains and particularly remember their glam metal formative years, which led me to be resistant to them when Facelift dropped in 1990. Oh, how wrong I was! I can still remember hearing “Man In The Box” on the radio and the feeling of begrudgingly having to give it up to them for the evolution. They eventually became, and remain, one of my all time favorite bands out of Seattle. Facelift is a damned masterpiece.
2020 US reissue on Columbia/Legacy and it’s excellent.
