David Coverdale - Northwinds (1978)

Northwinds is David Coverdale’s second solo album after Deep Purple’s split, with his first (which I still need to get) actually titled Whitesnake. Musically, this is soulful blues rock with some harder rocking moments between very laid back tunes, soft key, and sometimes somber tracks. The album, produced by fellow Deep Purple’s alumni Roger Glover, has a nice warmth to it and is very pleasant to the ears. Coverdale has had an amazing career, I tell ya! Do not overlook this man’s work, regardless of what you think you know about hair-metal era Whitesnake.

Original 1978 UK pressing on Purple Records/EMI. Very nice pressing with a heavy, textured cover sleeve.
