Electric Wizard - Black Masses (2010)

Black Masses delves deep into the band’s signature doom metal style while infusing it with a gritty, psychedelic haze. The album embraces themes of occult rituals, horror, and misanthropy, channeling a sinister, almost hallucinogenic atmosphere. The production is raw and lo-fi, giving the record an unpolished, underground feel that perfectly complements its dark subject matter. Dangerous territory for the uninitiated, but it fucking jams!

2012 US pressing from Rise Above/Metal Blade. I got this copy at a shopping mall record store called FYE for $15. It was on their wall and while it was sealed, they were not forthcoming about the fact that is was likely on the top of a packed box and some dumb employee cut through it with a box knife. Fortunately, the blade only damaged the cover and the LP a small bit and it plays fine , sans a few pops during “Venus In Furs”. Solid album!
