This is a 2xLP reissue that collects both Truth (1968) and Beck-Ola (1969) together in one set. Truth, Beck’s debut solo album, is often regarded as one of the first true hard rock albums, blending blues, rock, and proto-metal with powerful performances by vocalist Rod Stewart and bassist Ron Wood. The album features standout tracks like “Shapes of Things,” “I Ain’t Superstitious,” and “Beck’s Bolero,” the latter featuring contributions from Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones. Beck-Ola, his second album, is a heavier and more aggressive follow-up, showcasing Beck’s fiery guitar work and the band’s raw energy. Songs like “All Shook Up” and “Rice Pudding” highlight Beck’s innovative approach to tone and improvisation. Both of these albums helped to launch the heavy rock and proto-metal scene at the end of the 60s and also consolidated Beck’s reputation as an innovative and ferocious guitarist.
This is a late 70s US reissue (1979?) from Epic Records. Came across this at Generation Records in NYC for $10 and had to pick it up. I’d like to have the individual albums; but this copy sounds so good.
