Lucifer’s Friend - Mind Exploding (1976)

Known for their ability to shift styles across albums, Lucifer’s Friend took a more polished and melodic approach on Mind Exploding, blending hard rock and progressive elements with hints of jazz and funk. I struggled with this album when I first heard it, as the band had drifted pretty far away from the proto-metal and heavy progressive rock vibes that got me into them in the first place, but listening to it nowadays, I kind of dig it.

1976 US pressing from Janus Records.
