I’m not sure I can accurately describe how absolutely obsessed I was with Robert Hampson’s Main project in the mid to late 1990s. I had served as a TA and managed the advanced audio-post courses while in film school and one day my professor sat with me in the primary audio suite and played me Main’s Hz album on CD. I was completely blown away and spent years digging into what Main and Loop, and eventually Robert Hampson were all about. This EP is deep, metallic, and sublime.
Original 1993 UK pressing from Beggars Banquet. One of the more recent Main vinyl releases I have managed to pick up… I ended up having to secure this via Discogs from The Netherlands to get a good copy with the cover art vs. the more common generic sleeve release. Glad I held out.
