Miles Davis - In A Silent Way (1969)

In a Silent Way is a groundbreaking album that marked the birth of jazz fusion, blending traditional jazz with elements of rock, funk, and ambient music. The album features an insane lineup of musicians, including John McLaughlin on guitar, Joe Zawinul and Chick Corea on keyboards, Wayne Shorter on saxophone, and Tony Williams on drums, each contributing to its innovative sound. Divided into two long tracks, “Shhh/Peaceful” and the title track, In a Silent Way creates a dreamlike atmosphere, vibing minimalism, electric instrumentation, and meditative grooves. This album rearranged my thinking about music and ignited an interest in jazz and fusion that did not exist before.

1977 US repress by Columbia.
