Carheart, the debut album from Norwegian act Virus, is a boundary-defying journey into avant-garde metal and experimental rock. Released in 2003, the record showcases an eccentric blend of jazz-infused melodies, dissonant guitar riffs, and unorthodox song structures, all anchored by the enigmatic vocals of Carl-Michael Eide, also known as Czral. The album moves away from the black metal roots of Eide’s earlier projects, embracing a surreal and atmospheric soundscape that feels dreamlike yet unsettling. Lyrically cryptic and musically unpredictable, One of a kind album! Even among Virus’ highly unique discography, this album is something else! Brilliant record!
2017 Norwegian reissue pressing from Duplicate Records. Very nice.
