Zephyr’s self-titled debut album is a fiery blend of blues rock, jazz, and psychedelia, showcasing the raw talent of the Colorado-based band. Fronted by the powerful and dynamic vocals of Candy Givens, the album features a mix of soulful ballads and high-energy tracks. Guitarist Tommy Bolin, who would later gain fame for his work with the James Gang and Deep Purple, delivers electrifying solos and inventive riffs that hint at his future brilliance. While the album didn’t achieve major commercial success, it smokes hard, nonetheless.
1969 US pressing on Probe/ABC Records. Whew! This LP has been through some stuff, but it still plays alright! A bit noisy at times, but not enough to bring down the vibe.
