Die Grüne Reise is the debut album from A.R. & Machines, which was more or less a project by German guitarist Achin Reichel. The album feels less like a collection of songs and more like a guided trip through uncharted sonic territory. With its free-flowing structure and meditative grooves, it’s the kind of record that rewards you for getting lost in its strange, beautiful world. Despite being a trip, the album is warm, engaging, and has a very intimate vibe. It’s way out there, but I love this album.
My copy is an unofficial reissue of indeterminate origin or year. I picked this up in Brussels a couple of years ago ago not knowing it was a bootleg, but I cannot deny that the quality is very good. It’s recently been officially reissued, but it’s pricey, so this will hold for now. The record is so green!
