Armageddon was conceived at a time certain disillusion amongst the members of this semi-supergroup. All players that had worked hard and gained significant levels of commercial success only to see it dashed away. Keith Relf, having been through the entire legacy of the iconic Yardbirds, and Bobby Caldwell, fresh out of Captain Beyond, arguably one of the absolute best (and criminally overlooked) supergroups ever, have always struck me of massive examples of such a fate. The album is fantastic heavy rock by the most unlikely lineup of players. Sadly, this is also Keith Relf’s final recording as he passed away soon after this album was released. Regardless of what you may have registered from my preceding word salad, this is absolutely listening if you dig 1970s heavy rock.
1975 US pressing from A&M Records.
