Before And After Science is a masterful blend of contrasting moods, split between dynamic, experimental rock tracks and serene, introspective ambient compositions. The first half features energetic and rhythmically complex pieces while the second half shifts into a tranquil, atmospheric realm. I first came across Before And After Science while exploring Eno’s ambient work in my early 20s and remember not liking it in first listen, so I kept it with the intention of revisiting and it took my another ten years to come back to it, which is a little embarrassing. It’s such a fantastic album, I kick myself for sleeping on it for so long, but glad I kept it around to understand and enjoy later, haha. Great album.
1977 UK pressing on Polydor. The same aforementioned copy.
