Music For Films was designed as a collection of brief, atmospheric pieces meant for imaginary movies. Each track feels like a glimpse into a scene that doesn’t exist, with minimal melodies and ambient textures creating moods that range from eerie to serene. It’s not tied to any particular narrative, which gives it a mysterious, open-ended quality, almost like a sonic sketchbook. The album is subtle, strange, and endlessly intriguing, which is exactly what I love about Eno’s best work.
1982 US pressing from Editions EG. Maybe one of, or even the first Eno LP I ever purchased.
