Dead Can Dance - Spleen And Ideal (1985)

Spleen And Ideal, the second album by Dead Can Dance, marked a significant evolution in their sound, moving away from the post-punk influences of their debut toward a more ethereal and neoclassical style. The album draws heavily on orchestral arrangements, Gregorian chants, and medieval-inspired melodies, creating a haunting and atmospheric experience. Lisa Gerrard’s powerful, otherworldly vocals blend seamlessly with Brendan Perry’s baritone, reinforcing the album’s dramatic and almost sacred tone. Spleen And Ideal sets the stage for then path that Dead Can Dance will take as future albums will move toward this rich blend of ethereal and world music. Beautiful music.

1985 UK pressing from 4AD. I believe I found this at a record show at some point in the early 1990s and it’s in fantastic condition.
