The Sleeping Gods, initially released as a free download through Scion A/V, exhibits the band’s ability to explore diverse musical landscapes while staying true to their black metal and progressive roots. The five tracks blend atmospheric passages, folk influences, and aggressive black metal elements, creating a varied yet cohesive listening experience. Scion A/V was probably conceived by some PR guy working for Scion, a subsidiary of Toyota that was focused on a younger demographic in the early 2010’s, now extinct. The crazy part is that it actually resulted in meaningful releases from bands that were generally way outside of the corporate sphere of what’s hip or cool.
