Mekong Delta’s Visions Fugitives album sees the band push further into progressive and classical directions. The first side of this record features four metallic cuts, but much more subdued than the blistering technical thrash the band had been creating to this point. The second side is entirely taken up by “Suite For Group & Orchestra”, which is as it reads, a full on exploration of classical music and rock instrumentation - no vocals. It’s a solid album and especially admirable considering how deal meta was in 1994. Good shit!
2023 German reissue from The Devil’s Elixers. For such a lame label name, their Mekong Delta reissues have been fantastic. I somehow ended up on a small mailing list with Mekong Delta main man Ralf Hubert who sold me a handful of of MD reissues directly. I asked him to sign them and he did, but only on the inner sleeve, hah. Still, I treasure these LPs.
