The Politicians Featuring McKinley Jackson is a funk-soul gem that hits hard with tight grooves, powerful horn arrangements, and shit tons of swagger. McKinley Jackson leads the effort with his killer trombone work, while the rest of the band lays down heavy rhythms that scream early ’70s Detroit soul. It’s packed with funky instrumental jams and socially conscious vibes, blending grit and polish in just the right way. I only found out about this album because I ordered a different record from a seller on Discogs and they used empty LP sleeves as packing material and this was one of those. The cover looked so cool I checked into them and had to have a copy… because it jams.
1972 US pressing from Hot Wax. Oh, yes!
