The Second Coming were a nine piece American group that played psychedelic blues rock with a full on horn section and only released one album in 1970. This this self titled debut, the band lays down funky rhythms, soulful vocals, and fuzz-drenched guitar riffs that instantly transport you to the heart of the late ’60s and early ’70s sounds. Tracks move effortlessly between laid-back, jammy vibes and heavier, more dynamic moments, giving the album a great flow. It’s got that raw, unpolished charm that makes it feel alive, like you’re catching the band during a killer live session. For such a an unknown album, this record is a lovely thing.
Original 1970 US pressing on Mercury.
