I’ve been sorting through my Voïvod collection lately and decided to give the rest of Blacky’s Minemine Records releases a run through before jumping into the new millennium eras of Voïvod. To date, there have been seven of these awesome archival releases chronicling the band’s early years and through their creative peak(s).
Alveol is, as indicated, the preproduction demos for the Angel Rat album. Blacky had recorded and mixed these himself and they are an awesome document that illuminates the path to the resulting album. Also includes an outtake track called “Nomads” that was not on the album and had urban myth status before the Angel Rat demos leaked on Voivodfan.com back in the early 2000. As a major Voïvod nut myself, this LP is an absolute treasure.
2022 limited Canadian pressing on Minemine Records. Link is to the early 2000s web-distributed version of this demo, but the LP release is a superior master and sounds significantly better.
