This 2xLP set is made up of songs from the albums Negatron (1995) and Phobos (1997). For some reason, Hypnotic Records decided to release incomplete versions of these fine albums as a collection, featuring just a sampling of tracks. Negatron fares ok, being perhaps a bit long in the tooth, it lends itself to a little pairing down. However, Phobos is an epic concept album with all songs interwoven and it suffers badly here. Sound quality is ok for what it is. Hopefully these get proper vinyl releases some day. Voïvod’s Eric Forrest era is way underrated and Phobos in particular, is one of the band’s best releases.
