Argus is widely regarded as Wishbone Ash’s masterpiece. The album combines elements of progressive rock, folk, and heavy rock, boasting the band’s signature twin-guitar harmonies, which would go on to influence countless bands in the decades to come. Produced by Derek Lawrence with the masterful Martin Birch engineering, the album has a timeless quality, balancing driving rock energy with lush, atmospheric passages. Absolutely fantastic.
Original 1972 UK pressing on MCA. I had a US copy of this one first and couldn’t help but notice that there’s a UFO on the back cover in the distance that is mostly hidden on the US version.
