Blade Killer are an LA metal band that very much seem to embrace the early Paul Di’Anno era of Iron Maiden. Normally, I’m not interested in too much derivative type stuff, but Blade Killer seems to be keen on expanding the sound of early Maiden without copying, per se. Are they successful at this? To a point, yes. This four song EP is solid and doesn’t bug me, despite the heavy influence. Their first full length also hits the mark, but it’s right up against it. Time will tell, but this is cool.
