Camel - Rain Dances (1977)

Rain Dances marks a transitional period for Camel, introducing bassist Richard Sinclair (formerly of Caravan) and saxophonist Mel Collins (of King Crimson) into the lineup. The album blends the band’s signature melodic progressive rock with jazz influences, creating a more atmospheric and textured sound. I somehow hadn’t expected Camel’s catalog would hold up after Moonmadness, but I was completely off the mark. Beautiful album!

1977 UK pressing on Gama/Decca. Another lucky pickup of the past week.
