Count Raven - Messiah Of Confusion (1996)

Messiah Of Confusion continues the Count Raven’s tradition of channeling the spirit of Black Sabbath, with heavy, slow-burning riffs, mournful melodies, and Fodde Johansson’s hauntingly Ozzy-like vocals. The production retains a raw, organic feel, emphasizing the weight of the guitars and the depth of the melancholic yet defiant songwriting. The band split for a few year following this release, but have long since been resurrected by frontman/guitarist Dan Fondelius and are still rolling today. Messiah Of Confusion may not have made serious waves in the world of doom metal, but it’s a solid LP, without a doubt.

2018 European reissue from Metal Blade Records. Much credit to these 2018 pressings. Great sound and presentation!
