Magma marks a notable moment in Gojira’s evolution, blending their signature technical precision with a more atmospheric and emotionally charged approach. The album reflects a shift toward streamlined song structures, balancing crushing heaviness and melodic introspection. This is actually my first time sitting down for a full on listen with this LP and it’s really fucking good. Much thanks to my good brotha Jarrod for dropping this amazing slab into my collection.
