Tangerine Dream - Thief (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) (1981)

Thief while serving as the soundtrack to Michael Mann’s neo-noir crime film of the same name, blends the band’s signature electronic soundscapes with a cinematic edge, using sequencer-driven compositions and atmospheric synthesizers to create a tense, moody ambiance. It’s a very good album and played a major role in setting the tone for many of the electronic synth driven movie soundtracks of the early 1980s. And oh yes, it stands strong by itself. I might even say it smokes.

1981 US pressing from Elektra. Just picked this up today and I have zero regrets, or is that regerts? I am happy about it.
