Atheist - Elements (1993)

Elements, stands as a bold, genre-defying statement within the technical death metal scene despite being the  band’s last album for many years. Expanding beyond the aggression and complexity of their earlier work, the album incorporates jazz fusion, Latin rhythms, and unconventional time signatures, resulting in a sound that’s as intricate as it is unpredictable. Drummer Steve Flynn had already departed and the band were in a bad place, still grieving from the tragic death of original bassist Roger Patterson and compounded by Schaefer’s worsening tendinitis - but they nail it here! Amazing tunes!

2019 US reissue from Season Of Mist.
