Black Widow III finds Black Widow moving further away from their earlier occult themes and embracing a more diverse progressive rock sound. The album features a mix of hard rock, jazz influences, and symphonic elements, with intricate arrangements and dynamic shifts in mood. While all good, I don’t think it charted or sold very well and the band began a slow spiral to obsolescence. Still, this album is quite good and the band were definitely on to something, even if the world wasn’t bright enough to catch on.
1971 UK pressing from CBS Recods and it’s real nice. I landed this copy at Rise Above Records And Relics in London a few years ago. If you aw ever in the city, it’s not exactly convenient to get to during its business hours, but the digs are deep and the selections… solid. Worth the effort!
