New! Improved! finds Blue Cheer in a bit of a transitional moment. The first half of this album features the original core band of Dickie Peterson & Paul Whaley with guitarist Brice Stephens and piano/organist Burns Kellogg and this side jams, but it’s a bit lighter than the band’s previous works. However, side B is where it gets serious with Peterson, Whaley and the legendary Randy Holden. Heavy rock greatness. The album has two different vibes, but all is good here, in my humble opinion.
