Somnia leans into a more ambient and introspective sound, blending drifting synth textures, gentle guitar passages, and spoken-word elements that explore the boundary between waking life and the dream world. Recorded during the pandemic, the band had to trade off tracks online and compete the album without ever being in the same place at the same time… it makes sense that they moved in the ambient, chill vibes direction that they did and it’s superbly put together. It’s a trip, but sooo good.
2021 UK pressing from Cherry Red. I picked this up at Sister Ray in London in 2022 and still remember finding this in the basement level of their shop, along with a plethora of other unexpected LP discoveries.
