Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son is one of Iron Maiden’s most ambitious efforts, embracing a conceptual narratives rooted in fantasy and prophecy. Musically, it blends Maiden’s signature galloping riffs and soaring vocals with atmospheric keyboards and progressive song structures. While it took me some time to adjust to Iron Maiden’s use of synths in their music (starting with Somewhere In Time) I cannot deny that this dynamic and layered album tops off an amazing 1980s run of albums. Epic tunes from a band that is equally fantastic. While the band have decades of great music ahead of them, this marks the conclusion of their classic era of ascent.
1988 US pressing on Capitol Records.
