Live-Evil is made up of live recordings from his electric period with studio sessions, and the album moves between dark, heavy grooves and more abstract, free-form passages. Tracks like “Sivad” and “Funky Tonk” pulse with funk-infused rhythms and distorted electric textures, while quieter moments drift into haunting, exploratory soundscapes. Stunning piece of work from Davis and co. and absolutely deserving of its legendary status.
1971 US pressing on Columbia. My copy has seen some things, but has managed to remain a great player after all these years.
