N.W. Metalworx Volume One is the of the first of a series of compilation albums featuring metal and hard rock bands from the Pacific Northwest from the late 1970s through the 1990s. Volume One has a varied assortment of acts, a handful of which managed to release albums and make a name for themselves, to some extent. Heir Apparent, in particular have a couple of albums out and I know Overlord had a single LP. I had a copy of Taiste Of Iron’s self released demo back in the day too and remember thinking it was shit, but I was a thrash metal jaded asshole as a teenager. I don’t love everything on this compilation, but it’s a fantastic representation of some of what was going on in the region back in the day. The NW Metalworx guys seem pretty cool and are often at record shows in the Seattle are.
2016 US pressing from N.W. Metalworx.Link is most of the album, but notably missing Whizkey Stik, Assault & Battery, and High Voltage. Playlist includes the complete Windham Hell demo, which is surprisingly heavy.
