Rainbow - Rising (1976)

Rising dives even deeper into epic and fantastical themes than the band’s debut, supported by a tighter, more cohesive lineup and a heavier, more dramatic sound. Tracks like “Stargazer” and “Tarot Woman” are marked by sweeping arrangements, thunderous drumming from Cozy Powell, and rich keyboard textures courtesy of Tony Carey that elevate the album’s grand atmosphere. Seriously, a high point of mid-70s proto-metal if there ever was one. Martin Birch ensures the production is no less than superb, as was his way. Absolutely brilliant.

1976 US pressing from Oyster/Polydor. I can’t remember where I picked this up, but likely record show some decades back. Oh, the olds are setting in!
