Quichotte captures Tangerine Dream’s performance at the Palast der Republik in East Berlin on January 31, 1980. This concert marked a significant cultural moment, as it was one of the first by a Western band in East Germany. The album consists of two expansive tracks, “Quichotte Part I” and “Quichotte Part II,” featuring the lineup of Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke, and new member Johannes Schmoelling. It’s a fantastic live showing from this era of the band and unique in that it was released only in East Germany until a 1986 reissue came out, retitled as Pergamon, a reference to the Pergamon Museum in East Berlin.
1981 German Democratic Republic (East German) pressing from Amiga. Took a chance on a cheap copy of this recently and it appears to have paid off. Sounds amazing.
