Practice What You Preach is a pretty solid third effort by Testament, but the album definitely aims for a bit more commercial appeal than their first two records. Back in ‘89, I admit I had no time for things like melody and memorable choruses, yet giving this a fresh listen all these years later I am finding that I’m good with it. I have a weird little collection of Testament LPs… the first three, than a chonk of their releases from the late 1990s and early 2000s. Not sure I’m a proper Testament fan, but I do like them a lot, mostly. Definitely love their first two albums and their demos era as Legacy.
2025 US reissue from Nuclear Blast Records. Recently nabbed this for a surprisingly low price and have to admit that it sounds pretty damn good.
