Black Sabbath - Heaven And Hell (1980)

Heaven And Hell marks a significant reinvention of Black Sabbath’s sound and vibes. Following the band’s split with Ozzy, in steps former Rainbow vocalist Ronnie James Dio and not only does he bring a completely different vocal approach to, but the entire band has shifted in a way the perfectly compliments Dio’s entire presence. As a result, Black Sabbath’s sounds like a whole new band - in the best kind of way. While not as doom laden as their Ozzy sound, the band is still insanely heavy, but adding elements of intricacy and subtlety that they had not featured so much in years past. Dio also brought famed Deep Purple/Rainbow studio genius Martin Birch over to Sabbath for the first time ever and everything is better because of Birch’s touch. Brilliant album.

1980 US pressing on Warner Bros. Records that I’ve had so long that I do not remember when or where I got it, but this copy is absolutely mint.
