A Live Record is a double live album that captures Camel across multiple tours and lineups from the mid-1970s. The first disc features a selection of tracks from albums like Mirage, The Snow Goose, and Moonmadness, recorded during the band’s 1977 tour with the Mel Collins-era lineup. The second disc is a complete live performance of The Snow Goose from 1975, performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, emphasizing the band’s blend of symphonic and melodic progressive rock. I sometimes struggle with my interest in Camel… in some ways it’s the kind of music I avoided in my younger years… refined, clean, lighter in tone and a little poncy, yet the playing and compositions are so badass, I cannot deny that I love this shit. The production on this 2xLP is off the charts too… it sounds insanely good.
1978 UK pressing on Decca. Just picked this up at the amazing Originals Vinyl in San Francisco a few days ago and it kills.
