Sacred Heart continues Dio’s signature blend of heavy metal with fantasy-themed storytelling. While retaining the epic atmosphere of earlier albums, Sacred Heart also introduces a slightly more polished and accessible sound… aka tab bit more commercial. Despite tensions within the band during its production, the album solidified Dio’s status as one of metal’s defining voices in the mid-1980s. Dio’s voice is just phenomenal. Seriously, one of the best rock ‘n’ roll singers of all time.
1985 US pressing from Warner Bros. Records and it sounds great. Picked this copy of from a fantastic shop called Joint Custody in Washington DC back in 2019. One of my favorite record shops out there. Check it out, y’all!
