First Daze Here is a compilation album featuring early 1970s recordings by Pentagram, capturing the raw beginnings of one of doom metal’s foundational bands. The tracks, all recorded before their official debut, reflect a heavy, proto-metal sound steeped in the influence of Black Sabbath and Blue Cheer, with a gritty garage-rock edge. A roadmap of greatness and failure, draped in a haze of drugs and betrayal, this is some epic motherfucking shit! If you have any interest in the evolution of heavy metal or doom metal, this is mandatory listening. It’s also awesome, so not like the homework is unpleasant.
